| DEEP BLUE'S POSITION ON THE VAT DECREASE December 2008 |
|
Our response to the recent VAT decrease We are keen to let customers know of our response to the government’s recent decrease in VAT. As you can imagine, we review the prices at our shops on a regular basis to keep in line with inflation. However, we have decided to cancel the next price review as a way of passing on the VAT savings. This will save us from having to scrap hundreds of menus and posters in our shops, a significant cost both economically and environmentally. Cancelling the price review presents a more significant saving to our customers than a temporary VAT decrease. We are also passing on savings to our customers through a series of promotions in participating shops. We will be giving away scratch cards in December that can be redeemed when you’re feeling the post-Christmas pinch in January. In addition, I can reveal we also have an exciting new loyalty card scheme lined up for 2009, so watch this space… As with the removal of our price increase, both of these promotions have exceeded the saving that would have been made by changing the VAT. I hope that this explains our position on this issue, but if you do have further questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by clicking here. Thanks for your custom this year, Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2009. James Low Chief executive Deep Blue Restaurants |
